Betting Partnership

Betting Partnership

To get a partner on board can make a lot of sense if you have similar synergies and the fit is a good one.  This is why the partnership arranged between Walkabout and Blue Square is a match made in heaven (pardon the pun!).  Walkabout in exchange for funding ensure that the Blue Square branding appears on all printed material, coverage on the website and social media as well as in venue on the screens. They are the official partner and get a tangible awareness for their investment. In addition to the above a highly successful sampling activity has taken place in key venues at key times that has added value to the customer experience (some even asked for their picture to be taken with the Blue Square girls!) As a leader in sport this provides relevant content with a great fit i.e. Champions league tonight action tonight at Walkabout - Manchester United v Real Madrid with Ronaldo to score first at...

Blame the marketeers!

Blame the marketeers!

This week I did something for the first and hopefully the last time.  I filled my diesel car up with unleaded. I went to the counter to pay and told the server pump 6 and she told me that was £78 of unleaded.  I told her no it was £78 of diesel. To which she replied NO...its £78 of unleaded. With my extensive knowledge of the workings of a petrol station I asked if it was possible for the nozzle to give the wrong reading (God forbid I may have made a mistake!) to be told no,  it was technically impossible! So after an initial fuming and blaming my lack of lunch for my poor attention I had time to kill while waiting for a clever man and a piece of plastic to remove the poison from my poor car.  It was then that I noticed how petrol pumps are merchandised.  To the left you have the cheaper option - the middle the...

Restaurant & food led pub sales bounce in August

Restaurant & food led pub sales bounce in August

The absence of riots across the UK’s major cities alongside the impact of the Olympics in London combined to boost sales for the UK’s largest restaurant and food-led pub companies according to the latest Coffer Peach Business Tracker.   The Tracker suggests that sales across the country as a whole were up by 2.1% on a LfL basis but that this split between a 5% rise inside the M25 and a 1% rise elsewhere in the country. More on August sales: The numbers accord with comments from a number of operators that the second week of the Olympics (which fell into August) was better (or in some cases less bad) than had been the first week.   The closing ceremony impacted (negatively) a Sunday night (in August) whereas the opening ceremony had hit a Friday (in July).   The Olympics performance, which was said by many to have been negative other than in a relatively small number of venues, was very difficult if not...
